Black Hills, SD (June 12, 2009) ..
While driving through Custer State Park we encountered this huge beast ambling along the side of the road. It's a male Bison (buffalo) off for a stroll. He hung around for awhile and then got tired of the attention and mosied off into the woods. The less dominant males roam by themselves while the other males hang with the herd. Bisons are the largest land based mammals in North America. All restaurants serve buffalo meat and burgers in this part of South Dakota.
