Vehicle Assembly Building

We spent all day Friday at the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, FL viewing the featured exhibits (Apollo V, Space Shuttle, and International Space Station). Pictured above is the VAB (Vehicle Assembly Building). This structure is 525 feet tall and encloses the third largest volume of any building in the world. Currently it is used to assemble the space shuttle orbiter, main fuel tank and solid rocket boosters. The finished assembly is rolled to the launch pad 39A at a breakneck speed of 1 mph !!!
